Alfa TCR USA is all set for their first Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) race in the Alfa Giulietta TCR. The Grand Prix of Texas is held on the 3.427-mile, 20-turn Circuit of the Americas (COTA). The team led by Tim Munday with Martin Jensen as driver posted an impressive time of 2:19.922 (87.02 mph) which puts it second in the new TCR class.
The car was delivered last Halloween to the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida based shop. The team has been working hard to improve both speed and reliability with numerous tests at Palm Beach International Raceway. Yesterday's session was an improvement on earlier sessions in the week where the Alfa TCR USA's Giulietta was running consistently third quickest.
Just a couple of ticks quicker was past champion Mark Wilkins who set the pace and the third quickest was PWC veteran driver Ryan Eversley of Atlanta, Ga., in the No. 43 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR. Completing the top-six TCR Friday at COTA was Jerimy Daniel of Montreal, Que., Canada in the No. 2 The Racing Company Audi Sport RS3 LMS, Mason Filippi of Alamo, Calif., in the TFB Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR) and Lewis, in the No. 99 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai i30 N TCR.
Saturday’s Round 1 in the PWC TCR/TCA divisions is set for 5:55 p.m. EDT, while Sunday’s 40-minute race will take place at 1:25 p.m.
